Downtown Plano is also home to the historic Plano train station, which is now a museum and showcases the impact of the train station on the growth of the city in the early 20th century. Plano is situated in a subtropical climate zone. This means that summers are usually hot, but winters are relatively cold. The average temperature in January is about 32 degrees Fahrenheit. Plano receives an average of 40 inches of rainfall per year. Snow is rare. Despite the warm climate, the temperatures are moderately humid, and residents enjoy plenty of sunshine.
